oops i did it again
so what stops me frm eating the way i want, i think it is depression and i am just going around in circles. we owe it to ourselves to eat well, and i have to think about my kids picking up on my bad habits. Oh Allah help me this time, i am gonna, try again and give it another shot, but maybe with a different approach, i will add good food rather than stopping the junk completely and try to ween my self off the rubbish, man i sound like a druggie!

BIG NO to late night meals.
8 o'clock is the time that you should cease eating, leaving meals late on in the night is not good at all..there should always be a couple of hours between your last meal and bed time. I have people say that well i eat at 10 and then dont go to sleep until 12 that is a good two hours before bed, its not the same. Our activities decrease with time, at 8 you are still likely to be moving about more and doing stuff than at 10 or 11 as our bodies grow more weary.
I think the best thing to do is eat and then brush your teeth, use a strong mouthwash that will put you off from putting anything in your mouth!
Also I have found with myself that potatoes are not good in any shape or form, chips being the biggest culprit.
Today so far:
fruit n fibre cereal with water
banana

diet update
so have my eating habits improved....not in the slightest! i lost half a stone due to falling ill but i have got my taste back and boy do i just want to eat rubbish, i mean check this out i am so crazy about fizzy drinks that i will eat a packet of crisps ( or two) so that my drink tastes even better after the salt in take!!! this is such a bad habit and i need to snap out of it.
in the time that i was away ( almost a month ) i ate little to no fruit and my water intake was rubbish....why why cant i just be healthy, I JUST WANT TO BE HEALTHY...but i am weak and give into that dreaded sugar rush...it makes me feel happy ...momentarily...but happy. maybe i need to look beyond diet, i know there are aspects of my life that i would love to change, ive just gotta keep that faith strong and keep going.

What you eat today, you will wear tomorrow!
Anyway a quick mask that is meant to tighten the skin and make it look nice is just milk. use a cotton wool ball and dip it in a saucer ( bowl whatever) of milk and just apply to the face avoiding eye area. leave on for 5 - 10 mins and wash off( do this before bath or shower as you dont want to be smelling of milk!)

Suncare
Anyway i just wanted to share somethings about sun protection, i think that as asians we dismiss this easily as we think that it is not necessary but honestly it is still very important, unless you want to have wrinkles well before your age and Asian skin develops pigmentation otherwise known as age spots. I did some research into suncare and i found that what you use might actually cause more damage than good. A few years ago I fell in love with the Liz Earle range, and one thing that she says about sun proctection is the difference between chemical and mineral sunscreens...well actually read it here
"There are several good reasons why we do not use any chemical sunscreens (such as benzophenones, homosalate, benzene derivatives or cinnamates). Firstly, they can trigger allergic reactions in those with sensitive skins. Secondly, some studies indicate that they may actually encourage free-radical activity - potentially damaging skin cells and accelerating skin ageing. By contrast, non-chemical sunscreens reflect UV rays away from the skin and do not allow them to be absorbed.
Our non-chemical sunscreens include broad-spectrum naturally derived mineral filters such as Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide. You will find both these in our Sun Shade sun protection range - ideal for daily protection for all the family. And you will also find Titanium dioxide as a non-chemical sunscreen in our Daily Eye Repair."
Taken from : http://uk.lizearle.com/index_2.php?userpage=faq#SUNokay i bought this product i think about a year ago but didnt always use it ( naughty
Anyway a little story as I was growing up I wore glasses and I would not be seen dead without them .... but you know there is a certain stigma attached to wearing glasses especially for us bangladeshis, so my mum use to try her utmost to keep them away from me, and the more she did the more I wanted them. by the time i hit my teens my mum got increasingly worried, until one day she introduced me to the idea of contacts, i was not at all keen, you see years of wearing glasses meant that when i took them off I had a very distinguished white line going across the bridge of my nose. but there was my mum wanting to make me more marriagble material and glasses just wouldnt do! so what did i do....lol, i got cotton wool and stuck it with moisturiser to my face all except as close as i could get to the white mark, then i spent endless hours in the sun tanning the bridge of my nose......finally i got there! the things i did for mum!crazy crazy crazy! i should have just waited for my self made chemical face peel but that wasnt to happen till 2 years later!
Today

read the instructions!!!
Mashallah I have never really had skin problems, but still wanted super radiant skin, so when i was a teenager i was really into making my own face mask and stuff and it was great! anyway i still used off the shelf products and one particular deep cleansing product i used i think was called skin clear, anyway it stated to be used once a week.... buy hey why listen to them, i used it daily for about 3 or 4 days can't quite remember then i found my skin starting to hurt, the next day when i woke up my skin looked awful i could not talk properly because it was so tight and dry i could not smile at all. as the days went on my face started to turn red ( my skin is olive tone) and it was also eid and we had guests over it was so embarrassing! anyway it got worse over the course of 3 days. i would compare it to someone who had been severley sunburnt. by the end of the week, the top layer started peeling ( i can hear you all laughing! stop it it was horrible!) any way after myself made chemical peel, mashallah i got my skin back! my mum threatened me that if i ever dared use anything again she would kill me! so i stopped using all of that and stuck to making my own stuff... so beware!
todays menu
beanburger, toast salad cranberry juice
crisps
roasted fish with salad leaves and chicken curry aubergine and marrow in batter and rice
water ( small portions of each thing)
2 packet of crisps!!!! ( not good!)
pepsi
fish and chips with beans more pepsi
rice with curry
choc bar
okay 3 crip packets is awful!
got to stop it!!!!!!

water water and more water....then loo
- oxygen is transported more effectively around the body
- your kidneys are flushed out more effectively, so this eliminates toxins, hence less toxins reach skins surface.
- skin cells are plumped up and lips hydrated, so you should see an improvement in skin and hair!
- improves your digestive system
- slows down signs of ageing love this one!
- easier to burn fat
- okay and this one i think is well worth considering i will quote it as it is in the book "more powerful and flexible muscles in the face and elsewhere. muscles hould be 3 quarters water and if they lose just 3 percent of that they lose 10 percent in strength." so girls down that water if you wanna look and feel good!
Todays menu
1 wholemeal oat and seed bread with boiled egg

rice meat curry with salad
cranberry juice 2 glasses

naughty girl!
why am i such a fool, good food = good health bad food = bad health!
but i guess i did have some fruit yesterday which is better than nothing namely mangoes, jackfruit. this is a pic of jackfruit it looks ugly, and actually can have an unpleasant smell, i never ate this as a kid but now i try just for the sake of variety
I know that i love lush products now. i have been using this thing called big shampoo and i love it! i fear that i may never use conventional shampoos again. the good side is that there are very few chemixcals just to preserve it. it is a wierd texture but it gives your head a good massage as it is sea salt. alongside this the lady in lush gave me a sample of this conditioner called jasmine and henna fluff eaze.
the lady told me it was a pre conditioner so you put it on dry hair and leave it to do its wonders. i have to say I love it! my hair is actually looking nice, or could that be beacuse i have neglected it so long!I have to say that Mashallah i feel my skin is looking a lot nicer mashallah, i wonder if its that skin nanny moisturiser or the fact that i have been trying to cut down on fizz and add some fruit? i dont know!
But you know what it is so expensive £25! what to do, the other benefit is that the lady gave me a really really small sample and it has lasted me over a week! so in the long run???!!!what i will be definitely buying is there skin masks, which are made fresh everyday and contain no chemicals what so ever cant wait! iv'e gone lush crazy again!!
Todays menu

Monday, 20 July 2009

the weekend was awful food wise, i ate so much rubbish and guess what i was in pain, from excess fizzy drinks and just nutrional less food. but that was partly due to two reasons 1) family birthday gathering 2) father in law troubles. i always reach for rubbish to fix my mood.
anyway despite how i felt i thought i would pamper myself, actually its not called pampering it is what people do on a normal basis, but the way my life is it is pampering.
i used this new product called big again from Lush it is a hair shampoo made of sea salt and some other good stuff and it smells great. my hair has suffered big time as it is constantly wrapped up in a scarf and never allowed to breath ( unless im in bed) anyway i went through a time of just washing my hair running my fingers through it and then tying it up, bad move after 3 weeks i could no longer run my fingers through my hair, yes thats right no brush involved. I was really really depressed at the time. anyway when one day i finally tried to tackle the knots it was too painful, my sis dragged me to a womans only hairdresser and i got my locks chopped off.
as i use to only shampoo my hair and NEVER condition it, it became brittle and horrible. But mashllah i have to say it is looking a lot healthier, no matter how depressed they make me im gonna try and at least do the basics. I also used a pre conditioner... forgotten what its called, lady gave me a sample to try.

anyway i have totally neglected my skin, i can go weeks without having actually moisturised, it is not good, and my poor skin has just gotten use to it, im gonna try and change this Inshallah. Also from time to time the skin needs some other beauty treatments, such as exfoliation
benefits of this
- stimulates circulation for all over body glow
- encourages elimination of toxins
- sloughs away dead skin cells
- clears pores, which help prevent spots and blemishes
- promotes new skin surface
anyway the easiest and cheapest skin exfoliater that i know of is soap and sugar, i read this in book a long time ago. i have tried it and i found it a little harsh, but it really cleaned my skin. just lather some soap on your face and then slowly add sugar and scrub away.
I use to do this as a teenager but obviously now i do it once a year maybe, but thats about to change. today i got a shop bout exfoliater it is the Mudd range and it is the walnut one. i really like this one and i find it good for my skin.
Anway i have pains at the side. I have recovered from two days of headaches as a result of giving up my extra sugar intake namely...a can of fizzy drink and yes chocolate.
My skin is looking better already but i dont think im gonna stick with Skin Nanny... looks too greasy
Throughout today i have eaten:
I slice seed and oat wholemeal bread with humous,
snack size yoghurt and glass cranberry juice
cucumber slices, 2 tangerines, 3 slices mango,
rice with lamb curry, fried vegetables (far too salty and greasy) tomato Salsa salad.... i love this salsa it is yummy it consists of roasted tomatoes, thinly sliced onions, red chillies, corriander roasted garlic... it is lovely with curries!
packet of M and Ms
2 glasses of water
another glass of cranberry juice
small portion of rice with meat and few veg
okay today is a bit better had a stomach cramp i wonder if it was peanuts from m and ms?????
remembered to moisturise and will try and exfoliate my skin tonight ( just face!)
gonna try pantene smooth and sleek on my hair as opposed to johnsons baby shampoo ( DONT ASK!)
Wednesday, 15 July 2009
it is gonna be pretty boring really and is more for my use but any comments, advice would still be appreciated.
I have a BMI of 19 or was it 20? got to recalculate regardless I am not over or underweight just okay. not trying to lose weight just lead healthier lifestyle. My ailments: poor digestion and circulation, stomach cramps, stress, skin not looking as good as it could do. Parts of my body need toning.
Throughout today i have eaten:
Bran flakes with dried fruit water
tangerine, slices of cucumber
2 choc bars (aaarrrggghh) got to stop this
rice with chicken and veg curry
bean burger with white bap( brown go for brown!) water
cranberry juice
few slices of mango
Not too bad today have to try and drink more water....need to include more fruit and veg.
I am completely addicted to chocolate! i need to give it up!
am using a trial moisturiser called skin nanny from Lush, incredibly greasy looking( maybe i put too much) has a lot of natural ingredients and has a spf of 30. costs £24!!! far too much, maybe that's why she offered me a free trial after the look of disgust on my face, lets see if it is any good. Don't feel good paying all that money for a skin moisturiser.
